You are Priceless

Vivica started her day like any other day. She showered, took the kids to school and then headed for work. On arrival; she was bombarded with phone calls and paperwork,  promises and overwhelming deadlines. When she went home; her kids expected food on the table, help with homework, and rides to school activities. Vivica tried her hardest, but never received a thank you or a smile. She wondered why she had to go through so much trouble when no one cared. Sinking into a deep depression she asked herself, “Why me? “

Vivica is not the only person who struggles with self-doubt.  Most people do when life leads them astray, but this is never an excuse to doubt who you are.  Everyone has something great to offer to the world.People may not always tell you that you are needed. This is why you must know that you are needed. Think of where your family and friends would be if you were not here. There is nothing like the love of a parent, sibling, or friend. This kind of love can never be replaced and neither can you because you are priceless.

Always remember,

Self-worth comes from one thing – thinking that you are worthy.
Wayne Dyer

Now I Need Some Inspiration…..

He who can take advice is sometimes superior to him who can give it.

Karl Von Knebel

Well, here goes nothing. It has always been my dream to live in a big city. I have been trying to find ways to get to one my entire life and when I finally find a way, I can’t go. Well, at least I think I can’t.  I decided to transfer to a school in California . I was accepted, but my father refuses to sign the papers. I can’t get money for school without them. He is refusing to sign because he wants me to stay where I am until I graduate.  I have been trying to stay optimistic, but it’s hard.  It’s Christmas and all I can think about is if I will be able to go.  I keep on seeing these stories on the news and I know that tomorrow is never guaranteed. That is why I am trying to live my life to the fullest. Things are so much easier on television when you are not the one experiencing the struggle.  I never thought that my own family would keep me from following my dreams. I afraid to make the wrong decision, but I do not know the right one. So, now I am asking for advice. What should I do ?

No H8

A few weeks ago, I was faced with deciding between right and wrong. Thankfully, I made the right decision. It was just a normal night. I was hanging out with my friends as usual. We were having a good time, joking around and just being friends, and then everything changed. A couple of my friends thought it was okay to bash gay people. They called them inappropriate names and even said that they would segregate their children from them if needed. I was shocked. I could not believe that these words could come from people who I called my friends . When I questioned them, they blamed it on their religious beliefs. I was flabbergasted.

I can understand if you believe in something. I respect that and would never challenge anyone’s religious beliefs. However, bashing people simply because of  their sexual orientation is wrong. Calling someone a dyke or a  faggot is not acceptable. Saying that you would not allow your child to play on an athletic team because of  all of the gay people is disgusting . That is not religion. That is discrimination.

I hate when people discriminate. So, I held my ground and told them that their statements were flawed.  They did not like that. They say that I overreacted. Our friendship will never be the same and that is okay with me.  I do not regret a thing.  Equality is precious and it is a right that everyone deserves.  I will never apologize for defending what is right. I will always stand for what I believe in.

Check out a video from the No H8 campaign below:

“Equality is not in regarding different things similarly, equality is in regarding different things differently.”
Tom Robbins

What does equality mean to you?

Would you speak out when everyone is against you?

Would you sacrifice your friends?

Is it worth it?

Don’t Judge, Just Love.

One thing that I can not stand is stereotypes.

They are usually unfair, out-dated, and downright wrong.

Even though I don’t like sterotypes, I admit to using them.

Sometimes I will see someone and make assumptions.

I judge them by how they look and behave.

It’s how I have been taught.

Life has taught me that this is wrong.

You can’t judge someone based on how they look or where they are from.

You can’t judge someone based on religion or gender.

You can’t judge someone if you don’t know their story .

Everyone has a  story.

Every story is unique.

There are a lot of things to learn  and lots of people to love.

So, stop stereotyping and start interacting .

Life is too short .

Don’t waste time judging.

Spend time loving.

“The more one judges, the less one loves.”

~ Honore de Balzac
